Welcome to the summer term in Year 4! I am really excited to get to know your children and start working with them. If you have any questions or just would like to introduce yourself I will be on the playground most mornings and afternoons! They have been absolutely fantastic so far.

This half term we will be learning about Roald Dahl and the Battle of Hastings. Please read with your child every day ensuring that you talk about the books and explore their content. Here are some questions that you could ask your child:
Please try to change books at least twice a week!
Spellings will be set weekly on Fridays. Your child be tested the spelling on the following Friday on the sounds / spelling rule that they have been learning as well as common words that they should know. Please practise these spellings at home.
Maths and English:
Maths and English homework will be set weekly on Fridays on IXL. We expect the children to complete the two starred Maths and two starred English activities. If there are any problems with this, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.
The children must know their times tables to 12x12 (and related division facts) by heart. This is the expectation by the end of Year 4, so it iscrucialthat your child is practising these every day as this is the only way for them to be learnt!
Additionally, homework projects have already been given out at the end of last half term. This pack contains a range of tasks for you to choose from and any additional support materials. Your child must complete three activities. They link to the topic that your child will be studying this half term.
PE will be on Wednesdays, taken by a sports coach. Children need to have a full school PE kit, which includes shorts, white t-shirt and plimsolls. ALL kits need to be fully labelled with your child’s name and year group.
Year 4 has Spanish with Senor Enrique on Tuesdays each week.
This term Pine’s assembly will be on Friday 11th May. We would love to see as many parents there as possible!
Please make sure your child attends school every day. Punctuality is extremely important. Year 4 pupils are to line up in the playground at 8:45am every morning. 4 Dojos are given for children who are on time!
At the end of the school day please collect your child at 3.15pm from the Key Stage 2 playground. Please make every effort to collect your child on time. Any children not collected by 3.25pm will be taken to the office and should be collected from there.
